Culture

Venice is a democratic state. Italy has been a democratic country since 1942. The President is Giorgio Napolitano and the Prime Minister is Mario Monti
The 14th century city, home of the authors Marco Polo and Giacomo Casanova, is full of wonderful Venetian Gothic Architecture influenced by Spanish and Arabian architecture. It is known as a fashion city and commonly known for setting trends. Venice played an important role in the Renissance inspiring artists such as the Eryk brothers who are famously known for oil painting.
Seafood, rice and polenta are just a couple of traditional dishes in Venice. Glass is a popular attraction for the city.
Venice has partnered with the Greek city of Thessaloniki, Nuremberg, Istanbul, and Qingdao, China.
